We see things as black or white, up or down, man or woman.
But what if one is both, or neither?
There are those among us that are known as transgender, and I am one of them.
So, you know that gender is in the mind, and sex is between the legs. I associate my gender as a female, and I have problems because I still do not have the rights that even gay people enjoy.
It is more accepted now than ever to be open and gay, yet I cannot wear what I want to wear at work or I would risk getting fired, without repercussion to my employer. When I was young my parents would rather me be gay than let me leave the house in a dress, because they are afraid I would be harassed or killed.
The problem is, they are right. I could be killed. People who are transgender are killed every year, just for being who they are, and most are not remembered. This site goes black on November 20 to show our respect for our dead. Until everyone can have life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, no matter who they are, I will stand for those that have no voice, or those who have had their voice silenced.

Naturally, I'm going to comment on this. I'm glad you posted something about TDoR. I know it means a lot to you, and it means a lot to me. I went to an event at Valencia, where Come Out Orlando showed Boys Don't Cry, and there was a question-and-answer panel. It was really neat, I learned some more stuff about pre-op and post-op that I didn't know about before. The next night, Karen and I went to a candlelight vigil around Lake Eola, that was reeeally moving. A few people admitted having attempted suicide because of their struggles. Two of them were my friends, I didn't know that about them.
So... yes. Thank you for posting this, I appreciate it.
